Still Moving
- a dance for silence -

Dance Performance
Premiere January 2023
at Theater Neben dem Turm, Marburg
A dance solo that deals with bodily transformation and different deaths one goes through in life.
A choreography that re-imagines the dancer’s body. She becomes canvas for animals, creatures, gods, Orixas, and mystical beings to play in.

The human body can be a source of both pleasure and pain, a place of resilience and trauma, a tool for connection and for alienation.

Nowadays, we perceive the body as an image of the self, valuing individuals for their appearances, and building a culture of either dissociation or overidentification with the body.
However, there are some practices that can potentially shift this culture. Practices that don't disregard the body, but that see it as a collective phenomenon.

In this dance performance, Ana takes the practice and philosophy of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as a starting point to question the notions of identity present in her body.
She plays with the principles of breath, gaze, and repetition, moving in between still poses, allowing herself to become different objects and subjects.
Lingering on her own mutability.

In this (serious) play, she invites the audience to see her in ways she couldn't have imagined herself.
